Christian Homeschoolers at Play is an organization based in Georgetown, Texas dedicated to helping homeschool families find and participate in enrichment activities, such as field trips, PE, and Park Days. Our hope is that, through these activities, we can make lasting friendships that go beyond the group.
As is stated in our name, we are a Christian organization. Therefore, our ultimate goal in everything we do is to glorify God and His Son Jesus Christ. These days, the word "Christian" gets thrown around a lot, so we feel it's important to outline exactly what it is we believe. We've summed it up in the statement below:
We believe in one God, who exists in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that man's sinful nature separates him from a holy God, but that God has provided a way to reconcile us to Himself. In His grace, he sent His son - Jesus Christ - to live a perfect, sinless life, and to die on a cross to serve as a substitute for the penalty due to all men because of their sin. Salvation, therefore, is completely by grace, through faith. Finally, we believe that the Holy Spirit lives in every believer and empowers them to live for God. It was He who inspired men to write the Bible, which is God's Word, true and without error.
One of the major goals of the group is to provide free or inexpensive field trips aimed at younger children (pre-school and elementary). This might include trips to grocery stores, a post office, restaurants, pet stores, factories, farms, and more!
All group members can suggest or plan field trips, so the possibilities are endless!
These days are designed to be fun and relaxing for everyone! Often times, we'll throw park day and P.E. day together, and have P.E. time for an hour or so, then move on to play time at the playground. Park days will be at various parks around the area - not just in Georgetown).
In the past we got together at a park or someone's home to participate in P.E. days. We hoped that our children could participate in the kinds of fun group games and activities that regular school children get to participate in every day. We no longer get together for P.E. days, but many of the group's members do participate in an inexpensive P.E. class offered by High Hopes Sports, a ministry of High Point Fellowship in Cedar Park. You can find more information about this weekly class here:
